Hand Forged Nail Hook

This hand-forged nail hook is a perfect blend of traditional craftsmanship and modern functionality. Designed to hold up to 40 pounds, it is crafted from old fashioned cut nails and meticulously shaped by hand in my traditional blacksmith shop. The hook features a sturdy, round 1-inch inside diameter, making it ideal for hanging various items, from heavy coats to tools or decorative pieces.

Available in two finishes, you can choose between a beeswax finish, which offers a natural, rustic patina while providing light protection, or a polyurethane finish, which gives it a smooth, more modern sheen with enhanced durability against moisture and wear. The combination of strength, classic design, and finishing options makes this hook a perfect addition to any space, blending beauty with practical use.

All of my hooks are carefully crafted from low-carbon steel, a durable material with a rustic appeal, though it has the potential to develop rust over time. To protect your hooks and ensure they last for years, I offer a couple of different finish options.

The traditional blacksmith’s finish involves applying a layer of beeswax to the metal while it’s still hot. This technique creates a tough, water-resistant matte finish that’s perfect for indoor use or protected outdoor areas. With proper care, it will hold up well, adding a natural, handcrafted touch to your space.

For higher moisture environments or areas with direct sun exposure, I recommend a heavy-duty outdoor polyurethane coating. This finish offers superior rust resistance, making it ideal for outdoor use where your hooks will face the elements.

Keep in mind that all finishes will wear off over time. If you notice any rust starting to form, you can easily buff it away using steel wool or a wire brush. To restore the protective coating, simply apply a paste wax, which will renew the finish and extend the life of your hooks.
