Threaded Rods – Heavy-Duty Iron Rods for Turnbuckle Assemblies, Structural Rigging & Custom Ironwork

Old West Iron’s Threaded Rod collection offers versatile, heavy-duty iron components designed for both structural support and decorative ironwork. Forged with precision and durability in mind, these iron threaded rods are ideal for builders, blacksmiths, furniture makers, and DIYers seeking a strong, customizable solution for a wide range of applications.

Available in multiple diameters, lengths, and hand-forged finish options, our threaded rods can be easily cut, modified, or paired with nuts, washers, and iron fittings to build fully functional assemblies for both residential and commercial projects.

Built for Strength. Designed for Versatility.

Our threaded rods are commonly used in:

  • Turnbuckle assemblies: Connect rods to heavy-duty turnbuckles for adjustable tensioning in timber framing, architectural bracing, and rigging systems.

  • Structural rigging: Ideal for reinforcing open timber beams, pergolas, and trusses with exposed, rugged iron hardware that enhances the visual aesthetic while delivering long-lasting strength.

  • Stair railing systems: Cut to length and fitted with decorative ends or weld-on accents to create custom stair railing supports that combine safety with old-world style.

  • Furniture bracing: Use as tension rods in farm tables, industrial shelves, or iron-frame furniture for added support and rustic visual appeal.

  • Open timber connectors: Serve as key load-bearing components in exposed beam and post-and-lintel construction, offering strong visual lines and functional reinforcement.

Customize Your Build

These rods can be easily cut on-site to match your project’s exact specifications. Combine them with our hand-forged nuts and washers, decorative iron turnbuckles, or mounting brackets to create visible bracing systems that not only function under pressure but elevate your build with Old West character.

Offered in several finish options including raw iron, rust patina, and black, our threaded rods can be left exposed for that bold, industrial look or integrated seamlessly into more traditional rustic designs.

Ideal for:

  • Timber frame and log home construction

  • Custom staircases and railings

  • Furniture makers building farmhouse tables or shelving

  • Garden structures, trellises, or arbors needing iron tension rods

  • Blacksmithing projects and custom metalwork

  • Builders and designers seeking visible, structural detailing

A perfect match for an antique iron cart

The “rusty metal” acorn nuts look great on this antique, iron, factory cart, that has a new life as a coffee table in a brewery. I’ll definitely be placing more orders from Old West Iron.

These are gorgeous, client absolutely loved them on her custom window shutters. Quality was even more apparent, the threaded stock used for the bolt is not cheap all thread. Ended up building a jig to cut them with an abrasive wheel on a chop saw. If you have more than a couple you aren't going to want to use a hacksaw or multitool, that is a good thing.
