These are hand made faux beams made to look like 100 year old 6x6 barn timbers. The beams are hand scraped, hand hewn, and distressed to mimic a century old relic.
This listing is for a rustic mantel or floating shelf and french cleat mounting system. These are hollow faux beams usually 5.5" deep, and 5.5" tall. ASK ABOUT CUSTOM SIZES. We are happy to make custom orders.
These are custom built mantels and floating shelves made out of solid 1" nominal pine. The edges are cut to a 45 degree bevel and matched to hide the seams. Most other floating shelves are created with butt joints. Ours are meant to resemble a solid beam as closely as possible while still being hollow and lightweight. We then use an axe or hatchet to create hand hewn marks across the face the same way timbers were hewn 200+ years ago. Every face and edge is shaped to create a very rustic look. Next we add cracks to mimic splitting in the wood grain that would be present in a 200+ year old timber. Finally we apply the stain of your choice to match whatever look you are going for.
Included with purchase is a 2 part wood french cleat mounting system consisting of a wall cleat that is first screwed into the wall studs and a hanger that is built onto the shelf. The shelf then simply slides down onto the cleat. It can be adjusted left and right a few inches by sliding on the frame to get it exactly where you want it.
Our mantels and shelves are unlike the other cookie cutter products sold online. Every product is created by hand and is unique and different from the next. They may take a few weeks to build depending on how many orders we already have. Many times the build time is only 1-2 weeks but many times we are backed up and may take 4+ weeks. If time is an issue feel free to send a message and we will be happy to give you a better estimate on the current build time.
